Weekly Update - A relatively quiet weekend at the club....

Tue, 04 Nov 2025, 10:28

A Solid Friendly Win Under Lights

A 2nd XV side had a good win against Oxford University Wildgeese, 40-24 on Friday evening. With an extended gap for the 2nd XV between league fixtures it was a great opportunity to brush off cobwebs and to continue their winning form.

Clubhouse Busy for Autumn Internationals:

All matches were shown live at the weekend and will continue to do so during the whole Autumn period. No less than seven big screens available!

Beaconsfield RFC on the International & National Stage:

Fitz Harding had a fine game for the Barbarians against an All Blacks XV on Saturday and looked very dapper in his Beaconsfield socks (see pictures attached). Tradition for the Baa Baas is that they wear their club socks in recognition of where they learned their basic skills. Whilst the Barbarians lost I’m delighted to say that Fitz will have another bite at the cherry as he has been selected in the England A squad this week against the All Blacks in Bath. Congratulations Fitz and best of luck!

Also this weekend we had both our Ladies Head Coaches, Poppy Cleall and Connie Powell not only playing for Harlequins & Saracens but playing against each other. Saracens came out on top with their first win of the season. Congratulations again to both Poppy and Connie.

Remembrance Sunday:

Please be reminded that on Remembrance Sunday (9th November 2025) there will be a road closure in place on Windsor End between 10.30 – 11.30am. Only access will be via Lakes lane, which as you know is traditionally quite congested so please avoid if at all possible. Our President Mike Hall will be in attendance and will be laying a wreath on behalf of the Rugby Club.

This Weekend 1st XV at Home vs Old Priorians:

A tough fixture next Saturday against OPs, kick off 2:30. There are a few places available for lunch but we need confirmation by 6pm this evening. (Click on this link to purchase tickets - https://www.sportmember.co.uk/... )

Subscriptions are Now Overdue:

If you haven’t already paid your subs please do so in the next week. The subs are clearly critical for our ability to effectively run the club and to provide the facilities, coaching and medical care that we do.

Charity Season:

Finally we have two great initiatives underway at the club with the annual Movember initiative, with a number of playing growing some quite splendid moustaches to raise funds and awareness of mens mental health. If you would like to donate please click on:

Also this coming Saturday Richard Logan is raising money for South Bucks Community Hospice and is undertaking a gruelling spinning session, at over 220 watts, which Im told by reliable sources is quite an effort, especially when you are age 60! If you’d like to support this good cause too then please click on below link.

Hope everyone has a good week
