Final Regular Weekly Report for 25/26…..

Mon, 04 May 2026, 14:44

Unfortunately our season ended one week earlier than we hoped for, however everyone can be very proud of their efforts this season, some real tangible progress all round.

1st XV Lost their Play Off - Semi Final vs HAC:

We definitely had our opportunities to win this, but unfortunately came out the wrong side of a 38-18 loss. We were well on top in first twenty minutes, our set piece had them under all sorts of pressure and resulted in two yellow cards to HAC but we simply couldn’t turn that pressure into points and you must credit their excellent defence and attack. They had two entries into our 22 in the first half and both times came away with tries. Half time score was 14-10.

So many times this season we were behind at the break and managed to tweak our plan and spring some fresh energy off the bench. Unfortunately Saturday wasn’t our day. We suffered some injuries at the wrong time and we never regained momentum, loosing the 2nd half.

Our players throughout the squad have been magnificent this season. Their work rate and never say die attitude has shone through on so many occasions and they all should be proud of their efforts, with both mens sides finishing as high in the league as we have ever done.

In truth for us to be playing level 5 consistently, we would need to further strengthen and deepen our squad. The undoubted camaraderie within the squad, excellent standard of coaching and facilities at the club will continue to attract new players and hopefully with further expected strengthening from returning students this summer, will help build the base to allow us to again push for promotion next season.

All players, management & coaches should hold their heads high for their achievements this season.

End of Season BBQ:

Whilst a number of squads were away touring, the remaining mini and junior sides were at the club yesterday, enjoying the sunshine for their final session of the season. Lots of medals and awards being presented and everyone appeared to enjoy the BBQ. A huge thanks to all the coaches and age group managers for their support throughout the season, also to Tina and Jim (minis) and Matt (juniors) for making everything run so smoothly this season. Finally special thanks for our DoR dynamic duo, of Fin and Dave, for manning the BBQ so proficiently.

End of Season Player Awards:

Our end of season awards is scheduled for Saturday the 6th June. Format this year is slightly different with a hog roast booked and a DJ for later on in the evening. Our support this year has been outstanding, (we probably outnumbered the HAC support yesterday by four to one) and we are encouraging everyone to attend. There are rumours of another special event being performed by the players too! Tickets are £20 per head, which covers food and festivities. Please contact Braiden, Rhys or Owain for details.

Many thanks again for all your support this season, it really has been a positive one.

Enjoy your summer

Noel
