A top of the league table game that saw the first two positions change after a close and thrilling eighty minutes on Saturday. Beaconsfield lead all through the match but Buckingham came back with a vengeance in the second half. It was only a late minute penalty which finally sealed it for the visitors.
Beaconsfield opened their score with a try in the fist ten minutes, following early home play from Buckingham using their forwards down the middle. The visitors adequately contained this early play and pinned Buckingham down in their own 22. The second try came from No 12 Matt Beard through some excellent backs play again after more pressure in the 22. Aled Lewis then converted taking the score to 0-12.
Play continued to half time with Beaconsfield continuing to play as a strong unit, the stats showed three penalties against them and only one in their favour despite this maintained their composure and kept the ascendency.
After the interval Buckingham came out of the blocks with a vengeance scoring a try in the left hand corner. This came from a kick off ball to the middle of the pitch which was picked up and resulted in a scrum 5 metres out from the line. Buckingham then pushed over for their first try 5-12.
The home side attacked once more but this stopped with a forward pass.
Beaconsfield responded from a line out 5 metres out the forwards took the ball and proved to be unstoppable with Kong Li No 3 moving the score onto 5-17, Aled put the conversion just wide of the post.
After the next period of play with seven phases, Beaconsfield lost the ball and after several kicks Buckingham went over for 10-17. this was converted making the score now 12-17.
At this point Buckingham were now energised to draw equal and threw everything at their visitors, finally going over on the right hand side for 17-17.
It was a penalty in the dying moment that finally decided the score from just outside the 22, again Aled stepped up and secured the win.
