Beaconsfield Produce Convincing Win Over Milton Keynes
Mike Eagle Press Officer BRFC
It was a weekend of further league success and presentations of cups for Beaconsfield on Saturday down at Oak Lodge Meadow. The U15 and U16 plus the Colts all received their trophies from the first team coach. This was before the league match against Milton Keynes which also was a success.
Beaconsfield began strongly containing Milton Keynes in their own 22. The first try came from forward Ken Kavanagh, ball came out from the scrum with Ken carrying it over close to the visitor's line 5-0 which was then converted 7-0. They then got a penalty in the 22 which was taken, 10-0. Although dominant Beaconsfield could still move the ball faster from the scrum.
The next move so the ball kicked back into the Milton Keynes 22 for a line out 5 metres from the line. After a lot pressure Beaconsfield got the ball out to the right allowing winger Alex Springer to make it 17-0 in the corner with the conversion. The game had 15 minutes to run to half time.
Following some good passing the ball came to James Findley who bustled his way through on the left hand side 22-0. Next Ryan Morgan worked the ball well on the left hand side going over for 27-0. Chris Creak then took his chance with a move from the right going under the posts for the converted try 34-0. The first half had been mainly one way traffic from Beaconsfield.
In the second half Milton Keynes changed their game and attack and took two interception passes well which earned them 12 points. Score 34-12. A good storming run from Beaconsfield's number twelve took the ball on the right going over for 41-12 with the conversion.
Although Milton Keynes fought back well in the second half coming back in the game with good defending and tackling, but Beaconsfield were just too strong for them.
