BRFC Weekly Update - WOW

By Chris Summers

Two brilliant wins for BRFC

Hi Folks

What a day at the office, BRFC had yesterday!

Huge congratulations to the second team for their magnificent 29-0 win over Thatcham, well done guys on a thoroughly deserved win.

As those of you that read this each week will know, the 1's have been flying high in the league and yesterday was a vital match in our promotion ambitions, away at Aylesbury on their 4G pitch where a win would really set us up at the top of the league.

The players and coaches, surpassed everything that we could possibly have hoped for om what was a pretty cold grey day. They played possibly the best and most attractive attacking rugby I have seen by a BRFC team for many years and the defence was nothing short of heroic.

Winning this match 42-7 was beyond all expectations and with Reading beating Buckingham, 24-17, we are now 10 points clear at the top of the table setting up the match against Buckingham on the 7th April, at home, very nicely!

It is no easy feat to take the win yesterday, Aylesbury are a formidable rugby club with a great history, making such a result, even more fantastic.

Perhaps the best thing about yesterday was the superb support from a huge number of people throughout the club, from the noise in the stand and on the side line, you would have assumed we were at home.

I have received many comment from both the coaches and the players who have asked me to pass on their thanks, as the support means an awful lot to them, to hear the cheering and applause, drove them on to a level that I don't think that even they expected.

In the bar afterwards, the excitement was palpable from everyone, current players and people that have been involved with BRFC for many, many years! So to the whole club, thank you.

It doesn't stop there of course, April 7th will be a massive day and your support is even more important then than it was yesterday. I am reliably informed that the sun will be out, the pitch will be firm and the rugby will be at a level we have not yet seen, so can every one, young and old, please put a reminder in your diary to be at BRFC on 7th April for a 3pm kick off to add your voices and support to the team and drive them on to even greater heights!

We will of course, be having our pre match lunch at around 1pm as well as a Ladies lunch. This is a great way to warm up for the main event and everyone is welcome, it would be outstanding if we can get the club filled up for a great lunch on what could be an historic day for the club so please do email Mike Wood on to book as many places as you want.

Next weekend is rugby free, so a great chance to do anything that might have needed doing on the 7th in order to keep the day free, so no excuses not to see Beaconsfield RFC v Buckingham RFC.

Many thanks again, to every one that came to Aylesbury in whatever capacity, supporter, coach, player, manager, touch judge, together, you made the day.

See you in 2 weeks.
