Another fabulous day at the office yesterday with both the ones and twos at home to Oxford Harlequins and Grove respectively.
A very busy pre-match lunch with over 50 people thoroughly enjoying themselves was a great way to start the afternoon! Don't be shy, book in for the next one on 2nd March with Mike Wood via email@example.com
Having lost away to Oxford Harlequins on a bitterly cold day last year, the first team, still blighted by injury and absence, knew that they would need to step up a gear to get the maximum out of the match. Just like last week, away in Gloucester, the team did us proud gaining a bonus point before half time! It was not a game going to be won by defenses as both teams scored some excellent tries. The second half saw some great rugby and great tries, perhaps the pick of the bunch, being the last one, when Cameron King, broke several tackles, ran from well inside his own half, drew the last man 30 yards out and popped a perfectly timed pass to Dan Cady to go in under the posts. Final score 43-29.
On the pitch next door, an excellent 2nd team, put in yet another superb performance against Grove to score s resounding win, 53-12 keeping them 2nd in their league. With few games left, they will be looking to score maximum points in every game to head the table and gain promotion!
Next Saturday, there is no club rugby, but the club will be open for all the internationals. England v's Wales in what could be the tournament decider is on, so do come down and join in, everyone, member or not, is very welcome!
On Friday March the 15th we will be having a quiz and curry night at the club for 80-100 people. Teams of up to 8 people, hosted by a professional quiz master and catered for by Club Sponsors, The Old Bengal, tickets are £20 per head. We need your support to make this a huge success and I hope that every age group and senior team as well as committee members, social members and anyone else reading this, can get involved and put a team together. Ideally, I would like to hear from a table Captain, with their team members. Payment will be on the night, but we need to book the catering, so if you say you are coming, please turn up! Email me by return with your details please.
On March 17th, we will be hosting our first girls rugby session for many years, it is long overdue and looked forwards to tremendously, if you or anyone you know has a daughter or friend between 13 and 16, please let them know and encourage them to come down and join the fun, we have a brilliant bunch of coaches, whose sole purpose is to help the girls enjoy themselves!
We have the following pre-match lunches before the season ends, there are not many, so book early via firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your place or indeed a whole table.
