Another cracking weekend at BRFC, not all about the rugby this week as we were hosting the 50th Anniversary of The Round Table Fireworks on Cross Lanes.
This is a fantastic event for the town where a group of volunteers give up a lot of their time to raise money, 100% of which goes to local charities and good causes so as a club, we are delighted to be involved and do our bit.
The event went off very smoothly with several 1000 people attending, many of which came into our club to buy a drink or simply use the facilities. This is a brilliant way to show off BRFC and engage with local people who, otherwise, never have reason to visit the best sporting facility n town.
On the pitch, the first team travelled away to Royal Wootton Bassett where unfortunately, we lost very narrowly 24-21.
The 2's travelled to Grove where by all accounts they put in a superb performance to win 49-5 with try of the game going to Andy Galligan, who took the ball on the half way line, stepped the winger, chipped the full back and regathered to score under the posts, at least that is what he told me on Sunday! Great, great win.
There is no rugby at BRFC this week with a break in the league fixtures. However, there is the small matter of England v's NZ which will be on at the club, as we are all aware, there is no better place t watch the game, except possibly Twickenham, so do get down to the club early to enjoy the build up and a small libation.
For the last 2 Wednesday evenings, Amersham Jazz Club have hired the club house to enjoy some local Jazz Bands. Tony tells me that the standard of the bands is excellent and they are returning this week for one final appearance when there is one of the UK's best Saxophonists performing. Everyone is welcome to attend at £10 per person, this is their charge, nothing to do with the club!
Don't forget to get in touch with Nick Wood to book your place at the Sportsman's dinner!
Have a great week and see you Saturday to see England beat NZ!
