Those of you that ventured down to the club on Saturday, will know what an outstanding day it was. Beautiful blue skies, pitch looked fantastic and due to the withdrawal of other teams, this match against A&C turned out to be the Bucks Cup Final.
The pre-match lunch was a fantastic affair, 110 people attending from right across the generations of players, coaches, wives and girlfriends as well as a great turn out from A&C and representatives of Aylesbury and Bucks Rugby.
The match and the atmosphere was absolutely deserving of being the final. Both clubs were there n mass and I would estimate 400 people on the side line, the volume was immense.
The match itself was a very tough, gritty affair, bothy sides absolutely set on winning with no quarter given or asked.
From first to last whistle, no one was really dominant and whilst the lead changed hands several times, neither team was ever more than a score in front. A&C eventually won 38-28 and on the day, it would be difficult to argue the result and we offer them our congratulations on a deserved win. Regardless of the result, it was a truly great day at BRFC with the bar rammed well into the night. Next year, we will be back with a vengeance and very much look forward to a rematch!
I know that there is some form of celebration going on tomorrow, but really, that is just something to fill the day before the really big match that is Marrieds vs Singles on Boxing day. Bar open from 9.30, kick off at 11 with everyone playing in some form of fancy dress, out of position and hampered by some very odd rules, made up as we go along!
Have an absolutely brilliant Christmas tomorrow and see you Boxing Day.
